Where the Honeydips at?
Shabriel Bethea and Samone Kenner are High Point, NC natives and the hosts of one of my favorite podcasts, Honeydip Radio. They met in middle school but became close friends at High Point Central High School, where they began to realize they loved a majority of the same things.
After graduation, their bond grew stronger and their affinity for all of the same subjects and objects became a perfect environment for what has now blossomed into Honeydip Radio.
The name of the show came from the Tyler the Creator song ‘She’ when one of his friends, Lucas, says “where the honeydips at?” and it just stuck. The two realized that since they already had very intense and interesting as well as relateable conversations, they might as well record them and share them with the world.
When asked if there was a topic she believed too touchy to discuss Samone stated, “I personally don’t think any topic is too touchy as long as you have knowledge on a subject or if you don’t are still willing to learn.” Which I believe is the perfect answer. Pushing boundaries and talking about the tough things is what helps people the most, especially women looking for that information, but as long as you are willing to learn you have the perfect recipe for success.
Both of the Honeydips have high hopes for the podcast and dream of guests like Tyler the Creator and Zoe Kravitz. They also hope for more press, being in more magazines and perhaps creating a crossover episodes with some of their favorite podcasts like ‘Wine Dine and What’s Your Sign’ , ‘Blackgirl Podcast’, ‘Adult Sh1t’, and ‘Why Won’t You Date Me?’.
If you’re interested in listening to Honeydip Radio it is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Anchor.
